Had files but had to replace backup hard drive. Saved them there. I dropped the 1 TB drive and am using one off my fly tying pc. Has anyone heard if Jim's family ever had a memorial service?

Joe- Remember that you, Gary, Jim and yours truly watched the 1960 Rome Olympics, (Ali) in our garage on 87th working out with weights. Jim was the one who was most informed about, weights, track and field, etc. Jim taught me shot put, and discus. With Ali's passing seems like just yesterday that we so young.

Greg- I'll sent the three songs this afternoon on 3 emails to the email you list. That's the only ones that we had a chance to finish the product. Some stuff in work but never got a chance complete. No I never heard of anything from his brother about services. Yes, I remember the 87th Street AC very well. We thought we were so cool lifting all that "heavy" loose weights. Jim liked to follow the lifting and bodybuilding sports. I remember we went to Santa Monica Civic Auditorium for the weightlifting nationals one year. And the Shrine Auditorium for some event, can't remember specifics. Oh well.

Take care Greg and look for some email

    Here's something unusual:

    A Roll Cloud Over Uruguay

Explanation: What kind of cloud is this? A type of arcus cloud called a roll cloud. These rare long clouds may form near advancing cold fronts. In particular, a downdraft from an advancing storm front can cause moist warm air to rise, cool below its dew point, and so form a cloud. When this happens uniformly along an extended front, a roll cloud may form. Roll clouds may actually have air circulating along the long horizontal axis of the cloud. A roll cloud is not thought to be able to morph into a tornado. Unlike a similar shelf cloud, a roll cloud is completely detached from their parent cumulonimbus cloud.

They are native here as well as all western states. Canada, etc.. Big salmon flies, start out like all aquatic bugs as larve, nymph, then emerger's and then adult salmon flies. Then fall back to water to lay new cycle of eggs as spinners. They can get to 2-3" in length as emergers and adults. Easy to tie them since they are so big. 2-8 size hooks. Soon we will see the tiny M-fer's tough to tie at 18-24 size hooks. Then in late July -Sept we see terrestrials. Another fun size to tie 6-14 size hooks. All during June-Sept we also get all the other varieties of insects. Some so thick one has to make sure you don't swallow too many, spoils your dinner. Although it is a custom after you catch a large trout on a salmon fly you are supposed to swallow a real salmon fly. Its kind of like a blood spear when you hunt big game.

Betty and I arrived home from Europe on thursday. Berlin has changed 80% since I was stationed there. Prague was great but we hit a freak heat wave 92% for 3 days. We did have to sweat getting on flights but when you fly for free thats the price you pay. We were able to get on all the flights we listed for but I told Betty it is to hard to fly on a retired employee pass in the summer. Hope all is well with all the GBBS and hope to see you next month at the BBQ

I discovered that I have RFD TV on my cable lineup. For the most part I only have a sketchy idea of the meaning of what they are saying about the tractors and other equipment. But it's really interesting. Right now there's a tractor auction presented by Mecum auctions and they have this guy's collection of all kinds of tractors the likes of which I've never seen before. Ever hear of an Orchard Tractor? From the front they look like some sort of streamliner you'd see at Bonneville.

Are you home now? I hope you will be able to do some of your recovery near a phone. I know that you tried to call me a couple of times recently. I returned both calls promptly. Your land line doesn't have a answering service. It rings 12 times then cuts off. I leave messages on your cell phone, but apparently you ignore them. I just tried again about 15 minutes ago with the same results. Anyway, I hope all goes well with you. You should be fully recovered by the time of Al's BBQ.

A friend has had three ablations in the last two years or less and is looking at a fourth. I said it didn't make any difference how highly recommended her doctor was she should find another one. I had one only and I thought it was no big deal.

I got a new cell phone with a new company but kept the old number. I thought I'd share what I learned especially the keeping the old number since that failed the last time I tried this. First of all I believe your service provider has no qualms about lying to you. I'll go a little further and say that I think they also deliberately misinform their employees in an effort to frustrate you and hopefully keep your business. My provider was Sprint (it was the last time too). To avoid a repeat of the failure before I first went to a Sprint retail store well ahead of time and asked about getting my phone released. The guy asked if I wanted to do it now and I said no I just wanted to know what to do when I wanted to do it. He said 'no problem, just come in and we'll take care of it'. When the time came I went to the same store and spoke to the same guy. The response I got was that they were not allowed to cancel a service (I was off contract). He gave me a number for customer service to call. I went home and called customer 'service'. I lucked out and got some airhead twit that could only keep repeating what she read off her script ('I had to go to a retail store to get this done') and couldn't hear me saying I just came from a store where I was told to call you. After demanding to speak to a supervisor I got to make a complaint about their 'service' and was once again told I had to go to a retail store. After the smoke stopped coming out of my ears I went to a different retail store where the guy told me he couldn't help but he gave me the address to the closest Corporate Store. I went there and was told I had to speak to the manager. I told him my entire story and he said they couldn't help but all I had to do was dial *2 from the phone involved. I wound up talking to some woman whose job it was to convince me to stay with Sprint. I said my wife had told me to do this and after 45 years together I've learned it was easier to just do what she said to do. The girl I was talking to seemed to like that excuse and then she told me that she can cancel me but the way their software works if she cancels me I lose the number but if the new service requests the number it will be given to them and that will automatically cancel my Sprint service. I don't know about other providers but this one uses a hands off software program to get the number from the old provider and activate the new phone. Upfront they say it can take 24 - 48 hours (it took around 48) and sometimes longer to complete. It worked and they even transferred most of my contact list automatically. I'd say apparently you do have some claim to your phone number but keeping it seems to be subject to what process you use to claim it.

That seems like a lot of hassle to go through for a simple request. Who is your new carrier? I have always had Verizon, and have been happy with them. I haven't had a price increase in several years. Also, if you look on a coverage map you will see that Idaho and Nevada are the last places where there are still large places with no coverage. Most people around here say Verizon is the best. Once these companies sign you up for automatic payment, they make it hard to opt out.

I think the name is Tracphone. This is a reduced rate prepaid phone. I don't use a phone very much so I'm estimating that a year's service will be just about what one month costs me on Sprint and I had a reduced rate with Sprint because I was off contract. This would probably not be a viable option for someone using their phone more than a minimal amount for several reasons. I don't know whose network they use but I wouldn't be surprised if it is Sprint which is #2 to Verizon. I signed up Verizon quite some time ago for internet. Still use them although they sold or reorganized into Frontier Communications for internet services. My guess is the coyotes in Idaho and Nevada aren't using their cell phones very much. I went through all this trouble the past year to reduce my expenditures. Managed to go from negative to positive cash flow with a surplus well beyond what I had hoped for.
