I gotta figure out what make the phone is to look for instructions. It's an Android N817. I figured out last night that part of the problem was that the phone was set to silent. Kind of makes it hard to hear the ring and I thought the reason was that it was a new number plus I don't get a lot of calls.

Found & downloaded a manual. It's not exactly the same model though the numbers match because a few of the controls are in different places but I think it will be good for software.

Went to the Apple Store at the mall Friday because the back cover on my iPhone was coming off. I thought the glue was failing but they determined the reason the case back was coming off was that the battery was swelling and pushing the cover out. I want to keep the phone so I got a replacement and they downloaded the contacts from the old phone to the new replacement. Then I asked if they could copy the contacts from the iPhone to the Android. No problem the guy said, they have a machine for that. I'm on my second day of manually entering each contact into the Android.

Pat, I had the same thing happen to my I Phone about a year ago. I just swapped it for a new one so there was no problem. I have been very satisfied with Apple. If you call tech support, you will actually talk to an American.

Got all the contacts into the Android so that it is fully usable. Now I have to see if I can manage to replace the Android with the iPhone which was the goal from the beginning.

Just got back from activating the iPhone on my old account. The short story is the guy at Sprint tried to tell me I didn't have a phone account. He couldn't explain why that was and who cancelled it or what the payment I made last Friday went to. He also tried to convince me that I had to go to a different provider to get the problems with Sprint fixed. He changed his attitude when I told him that accepting my monthly payment for no service was fraud. Magically he then was able to do everything I had requested rather than dealing with a fraud claim.

I knew the end was approaching when my daughter, who had informed me she knew everything but always comes to me when she needs cash, married this guy who is a nice person but has some extremely odd beliefs from my perspective. I paid for their wedding of course. This guy has a 'Bernie' sticker in the front window of their rented house and works about six months a year fighting forest fires. He's like the folks in the Utube video mentally and I expect he doesn't understand I'm not gonna live long enough to keep supporting them. It's interesting to me that my daughter accepts his BS when she has spent the last twenty years telling me how it is and disagreeing with me.

Hi guys, I just got back from camping at Doran beach at Bodega Bay and it was beautiful, and I did not feel homeless. Bill Fagan said to say high, he is going for Goal bladder removal soon, so say hi to him. Hope you all are well. Going to Lake Sonoma this next week. Plan on just driving and see where I end up after that. Choice between Trump and Bernie, oh my, what to do. I have been working on producing Hydrogen from water using solar thermal process.

Steve - Check out today's Astronomy Picture Of the Day. It's a new propellantless deep space propulsion design.

It's officially spring as Lady, Queen of my backyard, woke up a couple of days ago and had her first meal yesterday. I think I'll wake Percy up next Tuesday for my birthday.

Bill - Good luck with the surgery.

Vanessa, my daughter, tells me the twins will be born in about two weeks according to her doctor.

Joe - Oddly it has been cold here. I used the force air heat to just warm the place up a few degrees a couple of times last week. Lady always gets up first and I'm not sure how long Percy would keep cutting Z's if left to his own devices. One summer he went into hibernation in the middle of summer when he got tangled up under some bushes.

Gregh - Is there a shortage of good looking girls in Montana?

No we have are real nice selection, since there are 16K students at MSU. Outdoor activities draws them like flies. However, there are plenty of foxy Rez. girls too. Take your pick. The "Most Successful Man In the World" had a few experiences he mentions in the picture. Maybe he needed to pass out a case or two of Dos XX, to help his Rez. Girls tame down a bit. There are Rez Girls Calendars available to convince anyone of there best virtues.

Microsoft is promoting Windows 10 but before you take their offer you better see if it's recommended for your computer by the PC maker not what the software maker says. I use two PC's here, an old one with Windows 10 and a 2 year old laptop now running Windows 8.1. The laptop was running 10 after I had tested it on the old desktop but 10 caused the laptop to lose video for about six weeks. The reason it was out of commission so long was that 10 has no provision to boot up in safe mode. I got it going once for about a week by using my flat screen TV as the monitor and correcting the error but 10 failed again for a longer period of time. The solution was to go back to 8.1 because it's recommended by HP for this laptop. Going back results in everything being deleted so I did a complete backup (took almost 4 hours) before the installation. Once the install was done I tried to restore from the backup. Naturally that failed so I've spent the last two weeks just restoring iTunes manually but now every album has artwork. I fixed a bunch of other errors too that occurred when burning the CD's to the hard drive but lost everything else including pictures.

As I suspected would happen the cell number I had recently was shut off Sunday. You'd think I was a Boy Scout because I was prepared. My current working phone number is 818 470-4392 ;-)

Pat- I also run 2 PC's on my home network. 1. with Windows 10 Pro and 2nd with Windows 7 Pro. They keep e-mailing my Windows 7 PC to upgrade free to Windows 10. 2nd PC with Windows 7 is too old to run Windows 10. I just use it next to my Fly tying desk to YouTube up fly patterns. So finally I contacted them and they stopped trying to upgrade an upgradable PC. As for restoring to old operating system backed up when Windows 10 is installed good luck. I beat that rap by using peripheral backup drives not using encryption. Then I have always been able to restore an old program. Matter of fact I have the full range from XP to Windows 10.
Wait to next version of Windows and we will begin to pay for Windows and allow Microsoft to create another annuity type of billing, just like Office 2016 I pay a monthly fee. If it helps you can borrow my Windows 7 Pro disc and get machine up on 7 then upgrade free to 8.1?

Gregh - The laptop came with 7 Pro. After about 16 months it started failing so I got the 8.1 but didn't use it because 10 came along. What happens is that everything depends on drivers, which as you probably know are just files, and these specialized files just disappear for some reason I don't comprehend. When my email and iTunes stopped working and I couldn't reinstall iTunes that started the previous adventure. I like to have background music going most of the time (Bob Marley at dis time Mon) so I transmit from the bedroom stereo to the living room where the best speakers are and from the two PC's also to the living room using Sound Blaster equipment that replaced the Bluetooth I was using before. Sound Blaster uses a frequency rather like Bluetooth but with a bit more wattage and hence more range and reliability. I do have a couple of Jawbone Mini Jambox portable Bluetooth speakers that work in unison to provide stereo or singley for good HiFi and are aces for my iPod. I also use an IOGear KVM switch with audio and mike capability to switch between the two PC's with just a push of a button that I really like and doesn't conflict with the Sound Blaster Wireless and Bluetooth transmitters.

The really really amusing part is listening to all their preconceived and very erroneous ideas about raising these kids that I won't bore you with. The best of all is he only wanted one kid and got two on the first try. You'd think that alone would tell them there's something they're doing wrong.

Pat, you're a weapons guy, about 3 months ago I bought Stagg AR15. Finally got it to the range yesterday. I use my right eye and I think I have a Cataract and need surgery.
Anyway I have mechanical flip up MagPul sights and I could only see with right eye out to 75 yards.
I think I need a re dot sight, any suggestions?
  8.
Bill - A red dot would be good especially for what you got it for as they acquire the target very fast. They are more compact than a scope but a low power scope is an option too. I think have a low power that I can send you just to try it (the concept) out. Whatever I have wouldn't be the ideal design for an AR but it beats buying one just to try the concept. I'd also suggest you aim with both eyes open. It takes a little practice to get used too. It's a good technique for optics especially scopes. I understand there's not much to do about cataracts until they get 'ripe' whatever that means. The optometrist can explain it all but until then you're not going to shoot anyone farther than 75 yards which is plenty good enough for home use.
