Pat and Gregh broken ribs are no fun. Pat last time I had broken ribs I must have been in the Army and that was a helluva long time ago.
  1.
Al - The first time I ever broke any ribs was last Thanksgiving. Having broken a bunch of other bones I never would have guessed ribs would hurt so much and the hurt would go on as long as it did. I got a pre teenager to introduce you to at the BBQ.

Anyone want an Ultra Slim wall TV mount? It's branded Vizio but looks like every other mount I've seen. According to the box it fits 26" - 55" TV's up to 130 lbs. and tilts 0 - 6 degrees down. If anyone is interested I'll bring it to the BBQ for show & tell.
  2.
Willie - I've an idea (yeah I know). My daughter has some kind of a web site that she puts photos on display for people to look at. It's not Facebook or anything like that, rather it's independent like this blog. I can find out the details from her but the thought was if we took pictures at the BBQ each year they could go on there. And anything that anybody took during their travels could be posted like where ever Steve goes. What do you think?

I've spent all of today just taking care of paperwork for the crematorium. Also what doesn't surprise me is that there are extra taxes and 'fees' when you die to go along with the extra paperwork. Simply amazing.

My mother had advanced Parkinson's Disease. That has two components, dementia and physical. She could not walk, talk, drink, eat (she had a feeding tube) or use her hands in any way. She didn't recognize me or I think know where she was or even who she was. It's a miserable place to be and I found it very hard to witness. The way I look at it is she is finally free from her torture.

Thanks to everyone for their kind thoughts.

I'm doing fine. I'm still a little bit weak from the operation and being in the hospital, but my heart is in normal mode. I had the catheter removed yesterday which is a great relief. I just need to gain back some strength and endurance.
  4.
Willie - I dated a catheter for about six weeks. The divorce was more pleasurable than the divorce from my wife.

Pat , Betty is free on Mon or Tue. Doyou want to go to lunch or to happy hour which starts at 3pm.
  6.
Al - Either Mon or Tue is good. Normally Happy Hour would be my choice but I have to drive back out to the valley so it'll have to be lunch. Ask Betty to pick the day.

The chances of a Freeway World Series are looking slim at the moment. More likely is a Subway Series with Yanks and Mets, or an
I-70 Series with Cards and Royals.

Al, I haven't lost hope. The Dodgers still have a good shot to win the division, but I can't see them advancing deep into the playoffs with two starters, one closer, and nothing in between.

The results of The Great Bourbon Tasting are in. By far in the Free For All sampling category the winner by virtue of the greatest consumption is Crown Royal. It must be noted that due to absentees there were no other categories but
happily there is plenty of good bourbon left over.

Willie - Yes, and then I did a Huckstep in my chair. Gotta give Jim credit, he fell over backwards first. And the neighbor's garage is really hard.

Finally I have found a picture of Steve's wormhole traveling machine. See attached.

Joe - I was in Vons getting Tortoise goodies a little while ago. I stopped to get some plastic goodie bags. When I stood up right there smack in front of me was a pile of plantains. They're pretty big.

Joe - I ate one just to see what they taste like. While eating it I looked at the physical features different than a banana like the peel has three very pronounced sections where a banana has four less pronounced sections. Guess that's what you call 'the same but different'.

Pat- In some cultures (Asian and Mexican) they fry them in butter and spices, also Cuban I think. They have a lot of nutrition tortoise-wise. Regular bananas not so much.
  10.
I think I must be catching dyslexia. This morning I was trying to balance my checking account which usually is no big thing. I use Quicken so it's never a math error when it doesn't agree what the balance is with the bank. The difference is usually something that hasn't cleared or was billed wrong by the bank. The other day I bought something on-line for $39.95. When the balances didn't match it was because the bank had charged $1 instead of $39.95. Believe it or not that kind of error is becoming not surprising lately. Today it took me 1/2 hour to figure out that a couple of numbers in one charge were transposed which made my balance $19.50 different than the bank's. I had given up trying to figure it out and had simply entered a transaction to balance the accounts when I finally spotted the problem somehow. Do accountant's use special glasses to look at all those freakin' numbers?

Pat- I use Quicken also and find it very helpful, but sometimes things happen and I get confused. Most of the time it's my error in the register entry. Also my eyes are not what they used to be.

    GBB's-
Saturday is Trout Unlimited annual clean up of lower Madison River. Oh fun, each and every time I have fished or floated lower Madison River I have seen Rattle
Snakes on trails or actually in water. It will be just like our Rabbit/Snake Hunting trips in Encinal Canyon, etc. I will be thinking of you and those wonderful memories.
I always like the upper Madison River cooler and much less reptiles.

So far today I've spent the day up until two trying to hang pictures using those two sided sticky things. They're supposedly rated at 5 lbs. The only picture I've been able to keep on the wall is one that weighs about one pound. Five pounds my ass! I ordered some 3M adhesive picture hangers that are rated for eight pounds from Amazon that'll be here tomorrow. Gotta bury Mom tomorrow so probably won't get to picture hanging until Saturday. I did have some success transplanting one of my orchids though it may only be that the plant hasn't had time to die yet. My solution is R & C, cures everything or you don't care which is about the same.

I have a much more sophisticated method for hanging pictures. I pound a fucking nail into the wall and hang it. I've been using this method for years and it works. Give it a try.

Mary won't let me do the logical thing otherwise my Blacktail Gun Rack would be hanging off the wall. Mary owns the house so it isn't worth the argument but you're right. By the way the bracket / wall mount that holds the Rack and a Rifle would probably hold close to 100 pounds.

    Pat-
I have same problem with the 3M. And when they work at first it is only a matter of months that they fall off walls. "Big" nails work best into studs. You need a stud finder. Not referring to all of us GBB's.
  12.
Gregh - I have a good stud finder somewhere in the garage. I thought it was broken but now because of your explanation I understand why it always points at me.
  13.
Al - I have to bring a picture to a place in the Triangle to get a minor repair. It's no rush so would you like to go to Pink's sometime in the next couple of weeks? The only day I can't go is Monday the 14th.
