Willie,I have to agree with you about Manny being a pain in the ass. Todays LA Times reported he turned down a one year 25 mil offer.HE MUST BE NUTS. If I get A chance I will check the facility out. I am staying in Scottsdale and the Dodgers will train in Glendale which is about 15 mi away. I also heard on sports talk radio that USC signed 7 of the top 50 HS players in the nation. So they should be okay for the next couple of years.
  1.
Hay, Pat you got the facts wrong about Catalina, As I remember it we danced our way to Catalina both with the chicks and the oldies (parents who went). Jim Heath plugged in his portible sterio and we played stones and jazz (RAmesy Lewis), half way through the cruise the band started up and we danced with the oldies, but when we got off the ship Howard Thrall bought a case of beer and was the first one caught, they took his beer away (our beer in reality). so we used some other id and had them deliver it to our hotel room which did not allow girls which we did so we got kicked our of our rooms. I ended up staying with Kathy Brewer and a few other of the girl friends and I believe I heard the police comming to our room so i being drunk as a skunk hollared out "suckie fuckie"' which toppled the apple cart and I was carted off to jail. (this is I believe where I earned the Ronnie ruddie lable"). Sorry girls! Any way Jon Kaper showed up in the holding tank while I was sleeping off my drunk and told me he got busted on purpose so he could visit, I think you bailed out one of us, and Jon then did a no no and joined the Marines and vollenteered for Viet nam, only to be turned down twice, he wanted to go shoot at gooks, but when he told them he would sigh on for a few more years they took him up on it. He lasted a few months he sent me a Stars and stripes news article of a Tiger he or his friends shot, and he came back wounded in action, he was shot near in the groin area when he jumped on the back of one of his marine friends who also got shot. I always wonder if June Hadsel bought me a nice Winchester poly choke shot gun for my birthday which her and Jon picked out ,to make me marry him to June (him being Jon Kaper) or to give me a hint to marry her, I made the mistake when I was attending Santa Monica college and had a class andsent Jon and June out on there brake to check my hav-a-heart trap while to see if we caught a skunk yet, so I could lobb it in Officers Denver's police car, so I could smell him comming, I think June fell for Jon and bye bye girl friend. (just a guess tho). I don't know if you were there that night Pat but I think Howard can remember Officer Denver telling me as he pressed a pistol to my head, that if he caught me alone he would shot me in the head and put his throw away gun in my hand. Long story but Officer Denver married a lady in which my dad had her son throwen in jail for burgelering my neighbors house a zillion years before and held a grudge against my family, he wanted to get in good with this wifes son and probably he would get extra Knockie for harassing me. I also remember being pulled over about every other day by one of these same officers (thugs) for minor problems, like one night on Lincon blvd, giving me a ticket for 45 in a 35 zone while my car was sitting in front of a 45 mile hour sign. (the speeed limit is or was 45 back then). Anyway didn't argue since I didn't want the dreaded Denver cop to show. (lots of fun). "I got even with them tho, but can't tell how or all hell would probably brake out." The Venice Police once drove by Jerrys Liquor store while I was being rocbbed and laught, and glared at me. I got the stores moneys back and sent the robbers packing after telling them I had a gun and had them stand against the wall which tired them out after ten minutes or so, I sent a neighbor who was also a good customer (he also ran the Ham radio operations on Fleetwing ave). to follow them (the black robbers) but he lost them some where on Sepulvida blvd. Lots of fun back then. The store did have a gun tho a SS German 9 mill luger eagle pistol which I kept in the safe so no one would steal it. It was taken off a Real Nazi criminal during ww 2, also the guy next store who worked in the glass shop had a Life magazine with him on the cover taking a Nazi tank single handed his nick name was Tootsie. Don the owner of Jerrys liquor store 9138 sup. blvd. was in Korea and taught baseball over their. He also worked for Chevron oil as a station dick and caught crooks working at verious gas stations I have a few good stories on who, and what he caught. Have to go all. Willie I have nothing to do with us (classmates and friends) getting arrested I was and am for "Law and order" and it was not my fault that the local police were crooks! bye from Ron Trompeter hope to hear, see from you all soon. Pat I can hardly wait to use your pistol with the long barrel! Al did you change the date of the BBQ or am I getting forget full?

Wow, that was a whopper! You guys probably still have your pictures on the wall of the Avalon post office. I don't know how you managed to live to a ripe old age, but I'm glad you did. I think.

going to Hawaii mid March if all works out. Panama for 2 weeks at end of April.
attached another picture of 30' waves at sea ranch.
    I have developed sun stroke.
I'll resize that. those were 1000 mile waves on sun. check next post before willie pulls my plug.
Good story Ron. Remember barnical balls the sailor.
I also remember jumping out of the line that was being walked to the patti wagon and asked one of the officers what was going on here. he said you better stand over there or i would be going also. I said yes sir.
I tried that in Palm Sprngs and it did not work.
picture has gone south again I'll try again
  3.
If I make the pictures smaller they seem to come thru.
    can you see this?
If you look closely you can see barnical balls the sailor in his kayak.

Just to keep Steve's photo in perspective, the attached photo is one I took 9/15/07 when we went to visit Steve. It was taken from about the same spot and is about 300 yards from the shore. That one very big wave in Steve's photo!

Sea Ranch is a great place. I hope Steve re-ups on his lease, so we can make another road trip some day. I haven't received anything from Jim and have not heard from him since I called him on Christmas. I'm glad you guys are getting together for some music. It shows that Jim is becoming more active, and enjoying life a little more.

We'er not exactly getting together. I haven't seen since we made a trip to the ER. We do our songs via e-mail. He was up to see his mom for a couple of weeks, but I've talked to him and we e-mail tracks. I hope to get over to his place next week. We have "stuff" to get done and some things we have talked about recording need to be done live.

    Take care.

just got back from Scottsdale,AZ this afternoon. The weather was in the high 60s during the day and dipped into the 40s at night. I did not make it to the Dodgers training facility but hope to go back in March. We left AZ this morning in nice sun shine. We hit the rain in Indio as well as the traffic. From Indio to Cabazon (approx 25 mi) it took us over an hour. It rained until we got to West Covina. But like Joe said we sure can use the rain. And Willie as much as I like to hang out with you I will have to say no to moving to Idaho. I hope all is well with everyone. Over and out.

Joe is an old man, and might be getting senile.

Actually, remember that in those days the playoffs did not extend into the next year like they do now. The '58 championship game was played in Dec. of '58, and the '59 championship game was played in Dec. of '59. In both of those games, the Baltimore Colts beat the New York Giants. The '58 game went into overtime, and many consider it the greatest game ever played.

Didn't the Los Angeles Dodgers win the 59 series? I think this is about the time we stoled them from the Brooklin and they were called the Brooklin nBums/ Ki-Abunga Steve are you the one with the balls in the surf/ Nice view, is this near where you reside/ Al I tossed my 2008 calendar an replaced it with a 2009 and forgot to transfer the BBQ date, so if you can once again enlighten me I will mark the date in my 2009 calender. Hacksted is that really you ? Remember you from school and hanging out at beach. Pat I remember now Howard Thrall used his brothers drivers license when we got off the boat at Catalina for our spring brake and the cops took that along with every bodys beer Howard was nominated to buy for us. The Chargers have a seceret camp in San Diego and sometimes the cheer leaders show up. A few years back I was almost the only one watching them train. Almost beach weather here (San Diego). Steve whats the best kind of Kayak. Like to purchase one to fish the La Jolla kelp. Neighbor caught 32 pound white base last year.

Ron - There are fishing specific Kayaks. Quite often you can find good deals on Craig's List or similiar lists where somebody changed their mind about Kayaking after they bought one. For a couple years a friend of mine used to buy and resell Kayaks he'd find on-line or in ads. Watch for fishing shows, there's one coming up in Long Beach and Ventura within about a week, where you could go and look at what is being offered. Ya never know there could be a show special price that fits your budget.

Ron, I was planning on the last week of JULY FOR THE BBQ but there are some problems with that. It will be in AUG but not sure the date. Iwill let everyone know soon. And Ron make sure you dont tip over and get caught in the kelp. When I was up at Sea Ranch with Steve an experience abalone diver got caught in the kelp and drowned, Talking about the 59 Dodgers, I believe Larry Sherry saved 3 games and was named MVP, his brother Norm was a catcher for the team, I bet Willie knew that little bit of trivia. Everyone take good care.

I have found a place that sells burgers, sausages, etc. Willie, I made some chicken curry with the curry that E.T. brought back from Thailand. Tell her it turned out great and i said thanks for shareing it. Westchester Hi won its tenth city basketball championship and won their first two state chamionship play off games this week. Dodgers hitters look good but worry about the pitching....

Deep into working on CJ7. The more I do the more I think of to add to "To Do List". Headin to auto parts store need some black and some red 2 gauge wire and connectors to finish the dual battery system. Biggest problem with this CJ7 is finding where to add any more stuff! thought 1 new 100 AMP fuse box would do but now need another for the rest of garbage I got going in the "Green Machine" Steve the Hawaii sounds good. Enjoy, we've generally got rain on and off til mid May or following April. Thank God for "Maker's Bourbon"

My friends I have to go to Bullhead City. A long time friend of mine who moved there died this week. I have been designated to give him a 21 gun salute. I think I will do it with a gun that is exactly what the founding fathers had in mind as definded by the recent Suprime Court ruling but is illegale in Kalifornia, my AR15. Rest asured I'll spend some ammo.

Al - I have a civilized (air) gun that can be used in your part of Kalifornia. I'll bring it to the BBQ so that you can enjoy the freedom our fathers gave us. I really enjoy air guns and trust me, they are not the toys from when we were kids. They also (handguns) do not make a lot of noise.

Pat I just passed through Bullhead city last week. The Guy with all the signs advertising Elk Jerky and such at the road side stand on the way out sold me some smoked salmon which I am afraid to eat after I read its lable (keep at 38 degrees) it was about 80 degrees owes me ten bucks, I sent him the salmon via mail with a return address hope he comes through with my refund.
