Hi Greg. Tax season is over, so are you through working for the year? We might have a late start for fishing season here. Everything is still frozen solid.

Hey Pat, nice to hear from you after all these years. Let us know what you are doing. There is fire in California, but still plenty of snow in Idaho.
  4.
Willie - I'm sorta stuck in Florida right now. Retired in '02 figuring I'd revert back to elementary school during summer vacation. That's where you run outside your house every morning looking for someone to play with and have fun all day. And it worked good for several years.

Then it became real apparent that something was wrong with Mom in Florida. Now I got a new career as houseboy to a nut case. I'm planning to move us to New Mexico later this year. When I do you ought to come and see the balloon festiville.

Got a email from Vic Silveria regarding the 2008 Westrey Reunion at Patty Russells home in Westchester (see below).
Just wanted to pass it on to you guys.
I guess Jon Derocco had the first couple of reunions and now they are at Patty Russells house.
I have not been to any of them yet.
Any of you guys go to them??

    Mark your calendars

This years reunion party will be held on Saturday, July 26th at Patti Russell's home in Westchester. Her address is: 6661 W. 87th Place. This is the same as last year. Another big thank you to Patti for allowing us to have the party at her home again.

We will go pot luck style again so everyone bring a dish for dinner & whatever you would like to drink.

We are fortunate enough that The Chambers Brothers will be performing live for us again this year. We will need to collect $15.00 from each person at the door to cover the cost of the entertainment I will need to try & get an idea of how many people will attend so please just send me a quick email to let me know if you can make it or not.

We keep finding more people each year but we still have some names that we are looking for. Please see the list below & advise if you have any ideas on how to contact any of these individuals.

    Steve Stremel
    Judy Patrick
    Melinda Davisson

Bill, thanks for posting. Howard went to Silvera's party last year and saw a lot of the West Rey crowd. Also, we all saw John DeRocco a couple of years ago at a backyard barbeque at Al Seth's house. Let us know what you are doing. Also, get in touch with Mike and bring him to our website. Thanks.

Willie - I'll be in Santa Fe most likely, but if not there then it'll be in the Albuquerque area. I'd prefer Albuquerque but Mom wants Santa Fe. Of course I could tell her it's Santa Fe and she'd probably never know the difference.

Pat, Santa Fe is a nice spot and I think you would like it there. It would be a good road trip for me although at today's prices, I might have to rob a bank or two to pay for the gas. Do you know anything about Mel Siverts?
  6.
Willie - Yes, I gave Mel the URL for this site.

I spent a year in Santa Fe around '92. My mother lived there for 20+ years after she retired. Her family starting with her maternal Grandfather has lived there since about 1880. There were clips in the "From the past" column in the newspaper about him all the time. He owned a saloon on the town square. The building is still there but it's an ice cream parlor downstairs and a law firm upstairs. The joke is that you can still get the same thing upstairs.

I hope we hear from Mel.

http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ is Astronomy Picture Of the Day. April 30th has a Hubble picture of two galaxies colliding.

http://www.spaceweather.com has some interesting solor pictures and info on the latest weather report for Saturn.

I have some interest, but don't have a telescope. I think Steve Greer has one. "Earth and Sky" magazine has a website which has good information, and is written for non-experts. It shows what you can observe in the sky on any given night.
  8.
Check those two sites out. Steve Greer gave me the second one when I recommended APOD to him. I look at them almost daily as part of my time killing morning routine. I think Steve has a pretty good sized Dobson 'Scope. I had an 8" Celestron fork mount. There wasn't room for all my stuff here in Florida so I sold some of the astronomy equipment and gave the telescope and eye pieces etc. to my son.

Pat, I just went to the two sites you recommended, and there are some great photos on both. I will mark them and visit frequently. Thanks for the idea.

Anybody here use Skype? It's a 'free' program that allows video phone calls (one on one and conference calls) using the internet instead of telephone wires. My daughter is in Korea and it's the way we primarily communicate. It's not perfect but the connection seem to improve over a couple minutes time. I put 'free' in parenthesis because the program is capable of connecting to the telephone network and I gather there are charges if you do that. Just think, you guys can spread your ugly mugs all over the planet!

This technology is going crazy. That sounds like it might be too much for me. However, if you have a hot young girlfriend, I'm sure we would all like to see her.
  12.
Actually it's easier than using a phone. I can't use a cell phone (buttons are too small to see) but this program only takes one mouse click to answer a call and two mouse clicks to place a call. It's interesting when your PC rings like a phone.

I keep check web cams for Idaho. lots of snow this year. Want to fish Clearwater drainage and St. Joe River out of Cour D'Lane as soon as weather permits. Picked up a new HD truck and am looking fore a 5th wheel. Gas prices get any higher and I'll push the sucker over there.

Greg, I'd be happy to meet you in Coeur d'Alene when you have time. Howard's sister lives there, and he goes to visit sometimes. The general fishing season opens May 24th. The elevation there is quite a bit lower than here, so I'm sure we could find some ice-free spots by then. What does your schedule look like?
  15.
Hey, HOT here. Glad to see Chambers is on board (see his "good-looking" photo attached). Stan the Man, Joe, and Greg the Hackenscmidt Haylift Horsfield, too. Even Maynard G. Huckstep. Also Nappy Fagan, who never comes down to LA anymore. How are you Bill? How're Mike & Pat doing? Bill, have you connected with Joe Brotherton who lives near you, or Bob Dematteis?
Where's Greenwald? No Greer yet, either? The challenge will be to snag Beutler. I think Gary and Pat should converge on him from the north and the east. Maybe next time I get to Miami, we can go do that together? Willie, I see Tom still knows you the best (up at the top). Do you have Jack Beutler's coordinates in Ft. Myers, FL? I saw Jerome last weekend, and he's as ugly as always. We were talking about body whomping, "f..k-bear", beach volley ball, etc. down at Gillis (Guzzlers, etc.). Those were the days. All the best to everyomne.

Hey HOT, thanks for making your first post. Believe it or not, the picture of Pat didn't crash my computer. I have talked to Steve Greer, Jim Greenwald, and Bob Williamson, and all said they would post. In fact Jim applied and I approved him, but so far we haven't heard from him. I think we can have a lot of fun with this once we get it going. See what you can do with Steve. He might be up at Sea Ranch with a bottle of Tequila.
  16.
Hey Howard, how goes it. Mike and Pat are doing good, I think Mike is about to get a couple of new hips. I have not hooked up with Joe Brotherton or Bob, where do they live??
I need to come down to LA soon, we will see how things go.
Good hearing from all you guys.

Nappy, be sure to say hello to Mike and try to bring him to our site. Gary Stanley has two new hips, and Joe Strand has one too. At our age, we all have our medical stories, but we're still kicking.

For guys our age, it has to be golf, fishing, or hunting. Those other sports were fun when we were young, but are too hard on the joints now. They say your worst day of fishing is better than your best day at work. Also, while fishing you can always remain within arm's length of a cold beer.
